Ford Transit Custom 2.2

The Ford Transit Custom is widely regarded as one of the best vans in the world currently.

The van comes with Ford’s 2.2 TDCi engine available in 100bhp, 125bhp, and 155bhp guise. All of these have class leading emissions and running costs, with all able to achieve upwards of 40mpg with a CO2 output no lower than 178g/km.

The Transit Custom is currently available in short and long-wheelbase and standard-roof variants. There is also a LWB high roof model on the way. The short wheel wheelbase van offers 5.9 cubic metres of load volume whilst the long wheelbase version offers 6.8 cubic metres of load volume.

Macklin Motors believes he best thing about this van is the quality – the interior is simply excellent.

Company van tax on the 100bhp model at 20% is £600 and £1200 at 40%. Fuel benefit tax is £133 at 20% and £235 at 40% – this is the same as the Hyundai, below.

Hyundai iLoad 2.5

It might not be the prettiest van your company can run, but the Hyundai iLoad represents excellent value for money.

This medium-weight van is a conversion of the companies i800 people carrier, and as such it benefits from car-like driving characteristics.

Hyundai iLoad is based on the i800 people carrier

The engine is a 2.5-litre four-cylinder diesel unit that produces 114bhp and 253lb /ft of torque. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a slick six-speed manual gearbox.

This set up gives the iLoad good running costs, and Hyundai claims that you will be able to get 37.2miles per gallon out of it on a combined cycle. Whilst CO2 isn’t great, at 199g/km, Hyundai balances this with a five-year / 100,000 mile warranty, something many manufacturers don’t offer.

The iLoad has 4.3 cubic metres of load volume with a maximum payload of 1062kg.

Company van tax payable at 20% is £600 whilst at 40% it’s £1200. Fuel benefit tax is £133 at 20% and £235 at 40%.
