AA CARS, the AA’s used car website, has partnered with tech transporter AnyVan to offer participating dealerships a nationwide vehicle delivery service.

Through the newly-launched AA Cars Delivery Service, dealers can arrange for a vehicle to be delivered to a customer’s doorstep anywhere in the UK. Consumers can also arrange a delivery for themselves through the AA Cars site, and have the car be delivered in as little as 48 hours.

AnyVan’s offering includes a tracking facility that enables customers to follow the vehicle’s journey from the dealership to their door, giving them full transparency over all aspects of the delivery.

Customers will also receive pre- and post-delivery photographs of the vehicle, including images showing the dashboard lights and mileage, to give added reassurance about the car’s condition. The vehicle handover will also be fully sanitised.

The service is available to book through the AA Cars website for both dealers and their customers, with the process taking just two to three minutes. Pricing is fixed and dependent on the vehicle and delivery distance.

Car delivery services have been in great demand since the pandemic, but not all dealerships offer the service for themselves. Through the AA Cars Delivery Service, AA partnered dealers will find it much easier to arrange deliveries and attract greater interest from potential buyers across the country.

The service will be particularly useful to drivers who are not willing to travel very far from home, even for their ideal used car. An AA Cars survey found over a third of drivers (36%) would only be willing to travel up to 30 miles away from their home — about the distance from central London to Maidstone in Kent — even for their perfect car1.

Previous AA Cars research showed nearly one driver in 10 bought, or considered buying, a used car without seeing it in person during the pandemic2, a number that has risen steadily ever since.

Overwhelmingly, people who bought a car without seeing it in person first also appear to have had a positive experience, with 84% of drivers who bought a secondhand car unseen saying they would do so again in the future3.

The new service also makes it easier for drivers who prefer to view a car in person before purchasing, and then want to have it delivered to their home at a convenient future date.
