VW’s Well Pharmacy fleet order

  • VW Commercial Vehicles awarded three year contract by Well Pharmacy
  • 450-van contract includes mix of Caddy and Transporter models
  • Caddy’s reliability and Volkswagen’s after-sales support key to securing contract

VOLKSWAGEN has won a 450-van pharmacy fleet deal with high street chain Well Pharmacy to supply its prescription delivery vehicles.

The three-year deal will see the pharmacy group take delivery of 450 new Volkswagens, with the majority being the brand’s award-winning Caddy model which went on sale in September.

Well Pharmacy chose the Caddy for its reputation for reliability and Volkswagen’s aftersales support package.

Dispensing more than 74 million prescriptions a year, Well Pharmacy operates 780 pharmacies across the UK.  It offers local communities healthcare advice and wellbeing support.

A significant factor in its decision to select Volkswagen was minimising the company’s vehicle downtime with VW’s comprehensive after-sales support services and nationwide dedicated van centre network were key elements for awarding the contract.

Well has been able to benefit from many of the brand’s uptime management tools such as like-for-like courtesy vehicles, free roadside assistance, CITNow video service tool, online booking and dedicated SMR website.

Brian James, fleet and home delivery manager at Well Pharmacy, said: “Keeping our national prescription delivery team on the road is vital, as our customers’ health depends on the swift delivery of their medicine.

“When selecting our fleet partner, we took into consideration those areas that most affected our business, including vehicle quality, after-care service and whole-life costs.  Volkswagen’s combination of a nationwide network of dedicated Van Centres and comprehensive aftersales support reassured us that we could reduce our vehicle downtime and ensure that our drivers spend more time delivering a valuable service to our customers.”
