Locksmith Jason Gould loves the style and performance of the Mercedes Vito Sport-X
LOCKSMITH Jason Gould reckons he’s back where he belongs – behind the wheel of a Mercedes Vito, after trying a different make for a while.
Having used a succession of Mercedes Vito and Vito Sport models for his Halesowen-based business Dr Locks, Jason decided it was time for something different.
“I fancied a change, and it was a nice vehicle,” he told Business Vans. “But it very soon dawned on me that it just wasn’t a Mercedes-Benz. It lacked the quality and comfort of the Vito, and it didn’t have the ‘feel good’ factor I’d been used to.”
A visit to his local Mercedes-Benz Dealer, Midlands Truck & Van, brought the opportunity to take a test drive in the managing director’s personal transport – a fiery Vito Sport-X.
“I’d scarcely left the forecourt before I realised that this was the van for me,” Jason said. “It really looks the part and the fact that it’s so quick makes it a real joy to drive.”
The Mercedes Vito Sport-X is a real head turner thanks to tuning and body styling specialist Brabus, which designed its customised front spoiler, chrome sidebars and 18-inch alloy wheels. Sport-X models are also fitted with bi-xenon headlamps and LED daytime driving lights which both look good and add to safety.
The sporty looks aren’t all show – the Mercedes Vito Sport-X is powered by a muscular V6 engine that produces 224hp, driving a five-speed automatic transmission.
Jason uses his silver Vito Sport-X to visit commercial and domestic customers throughout the West Midlands and beyond.
“As well as having great performance, my Sport-X came with a huge array of active and passive safety systems, all fitted as standard,” he said. “This, coupled with the manufacturer’s three-year, unlimited mileage warranty, is very reassuring.
