FOLLOWING rivals such as Citroen, Peugeot and Renault, the new UK head of commercial vehicles at Fiat Professional Richard Chamberlin has confirmed that it will launch its own Fiat Professional approved body conversion programme.

The as yet unnamed programme, which will be launched by quarter 3, will offer more choice than the tippers and dropsides currently available he said in an interview at the CV Show in Birmingham.

“What we want to do is extend that to box bodies, possibly fridge and minibus options as well. These will come direct from a dealer, just one point of contact,” Richard explained.

So will these conversions be made in the UK, I asked?

“It will be a mixture, it’s understanding what we can do at a factory level, because it has a cost advantage, rather than a lot of vehicle movements, time delays and things like that,” Richard added.

However, there is a so far unnamed body builder in the UK that has met Fiat Professional’s requirements and apparently they will do the majority of what will be brought to market and the focus will be on the Ducato.
