Toyota has put its first heavy-duty van, the Proace Max on UK sale with a choice of battery-electric (BEV) or diesel powertrains.
The electric version has a 200kW/270hp motor with 410Nm or torque and an official WLTP-certified standard driving range of up to 260 miles. Toyota states that this allows the vehicle to be used for urban daily delivery schedules potentially without the need for overnight changing.
Three modes driving modes are available to optimise driving range or power and a regenerative braking system is also fitted. All versions are fitted with an onboard 11kWh AC charger while the 110kWh lithium-ion battery can be recharged to 80% in 55 minutes using a 150kW fast-charging system.
Diesel versions employ a 2.2-litre 140hp unit joined to either a six-speed manual or eight-speed automatic transmission, producing maximum torque of 350Nm and 280Nm respectively.
