Vauxhall has launched a new offer on its Combo electric compact van that will allow businesses to rent the vehicle for the same monthly cost, deposit and terms as the diesel version.

Available on Business Contract Hire through Leasys, the Combo electric in Prime trim costs £329 per month with a £1,974 deposit, while Pro trim versions can be rented for £365pm with a £2,190 deposit. The contract term is 60 months with a mileage allowance of 6,000 miles per year.

Vauxhall is also pointing out the lower running costs of the electric Combo compared to the diesel variant, which the brand states amounts to around £91 per month. This includes fuel savings of £64 per month based on 500 miles per month and a saving of £26 per month thanks to the current exemption on VED for electric vehicles.

Sole traders and small businesses in London can also make use of the ULEZ van scrappage scheme and access a £9,500 grant by replacing a non-compliant diesel van with a Combo Electric.

The New Combo Electric has a power rating of 136hp and 270Nm of toque, which gives it a WLTP-certified range of 213 miles on a full charge of its 52kWh battery (WLTP) – 38 miles further than its predecessor. Charging from 0 to 80% takes 30 minutes at a 100kW public charger.

Combo Electric models offer the same storage space of up to  4.4 cubic metres as the diesel version, with a payload of up to 781kg and 750kg towing capacity. All versions are supplied with three years of roadside assistance and an eight-year battery warranty as standard.

The Combo Electric is built at Vauxhall’s Ellesmere Port plant, described as the UK’s first EV-only volume manufacturing facility. Vauxhall’s Luton plant will begin manufacturing electric vans from next year.

Vauxhall recently launched an ‘Energising a Better Britain’ media campaign promoting its electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) line-up. The brand now offers a fully electric version of every model in its LCV line-up.

According to Vauxhall managing director James Taylor the removal of any additional upfront cost for van drivers looking to go electric is a significant step in the company’s ambition to make electric mobility accessible to all.

“With identical monthly payments and lower running costs, it will allow Combo Electric customers to realise significant savings compared to the equivalent diesel version over the life of the vehicle,” Taylor said.
